Frequently Asked Questions

An educational therapist is a highly-trained educator that specializes in identifying a student's learning struggles and then provides intensive and individualized instruction to remediate. Our therapists consider academics, emotions, cognition and perception as they personalize each session.

The main difference between a tutor and an educational therapist is that a tutor provides support for learners in academics, while an educational therapist has a broader approach and works on remediating the learner's thinking and ability to learn. A tutor works with a student on their homework and study skills with a goal of improving their grades. An educational therapist works on strategies and goals to help a learner’s ability to think, reason and process information. These strategies produce competent and confident learners not only for the classroom but for lifelong learning.

Most learners come twice per  week. Sessions last between 45 - 80 minutes depending  on the age of the learner and the specific program he/she is involved in.

Depending upon the individual goals for each learner and the program being used, the timeline can differ significantly.

--Our cognitive coaching learners sign up for a minimum of 20 sessions, however, most renew their contract for at least one year once they experience the benefits of the program.

-Our learners involved in Educational Therapy sign up for one year at a time. Overcoming the challenges of dyslexia or a specific learning disability can easily take 3 to 5 years, although some learners find 1 year sufficient.

-Our young learners in the TEACH program usually complete the program in 6 to 8 months.
